"Collective signaling oscillations during embryo development"

We study the origin and function of collective signaling oscillations in embryonic development. Oscillatory signaling is linked to the sequential segmentation of the vertebrate embryo body axis and the formation of pre-vertebrae, somites. Most strikingly, signaling oscillations are coordinated between neighboring cells and result in spatio-temporal wave patterns that traverse the embryo periodically. I will discuss how we employ general synchronisation principles and entrainment approaches to reveal the fundamental dynamical properties of this embryonic coupled oscillator network.Host: Dr. Aneta Koseska
